What's in this name?

I thought I would give this a try.

Why the name and reference to Kerouac? When I first fell in love with writing, I fell in love with Kerouac -- by way of the 10,000 Maniacs' song, 'Hey, Jack Kerouac.'

I then spent the next 15 years realizing I was NOT Jack Kerouac.

Plus, it just sounds good to say.

Consider this: if denial is the first step toward affirmation, then you're that much closer to reaching Kerouac-esque status. As an aside, you're already part-way there: some would argue that the cover photo of "On the Road" bears more than just a fleeting resemblance....

To paraphrase Jean Cocteau, J.S. Bankston is a madman who thinks he is J.S. Bankston.
