What's an opinion worth?

In the early '90s, Ruth Reichl replaced Bryan Miller as the chief food critic at the New York Times. Her salary ... $82,000 plus meals.

Wow, too think I am only worth $135,000. a teacher, nurse, mentor, cook, housekeeper, and bookkeeper all rolled into one. She gets too eat yummy food without stains on her clothes, and enjoy her meal in peace. How wonderful her life must be...

Actually, that was a lot less than I thought a NYT big-shot would get paid, but then again, as in professional sports, I supposed the Food Editor gets all sorts of endorsement deals and such. And being able to put "So-and-so, Food Editor of the New York Times" on a book would probably help it sell a lot more.

On the downside, there's those stupid polyester smocks, nametags, and paper hats you have to wear....
