To that I would add:

* Blogs
* Portable DVD Players (especially when handed out to First Class flyers instead of the standard in-flight movie)
* Cable's OnDemand Service
* Steve Earle's verse: "If you're thinking about breaking my heart, you might as well just pick up your little black dress and go."

Air conditioning (the only thing that makes life in Texas remotely bearable),soft toilet paper (I hear the Europeans haven't mastered this yet), high-speed Internet connections,British men's/entertainment magazines (lots of photos, lots of information, and hilarious, snarky writing--ideal for the bathroom), digital cameras (makes even a retard like me look like Ansel Friggin' Adams), Criterion Collection DVDs, Sweet Lady Codeine, the "Domains" section of the Sunday NYT Magazine, the inevitability of death, M&Ms....I could go on and on.

And how can I forget self-adhesive stamps? On the other hand, I'd like to cut the throat of whoever invented car alarms and leaf blowers.
