I own a larger-than-life-sized acrylic painting of a shirtless Jim Morrison

I admit it. It hangs in my house. So, I know all too well what this means.

Oh, you oughta see the pictures I got, baby....

I can't imagine what a shrink--or pop cultural critic-- would make of my collection.

Ah, cheer up, Triple J. Couldn't be any worse than that guy I knew who had a naked painting...of himself...the HE painted.

I mean to say "that HE painted."

I am without words. Just as long as it doesn't hand at the head, or above your bed.

What an excellent onion article, you douche rocket. Just kidding, I actually think Jim Morrison was the real douche rocket. (But then what does that make us, as Doors listeners?)

Thanks for the well wishes. :)

Wow. That is truly stunning. The only thing that'd make it better is if it were on velvet.

You know, it almost doesn't look like Jim Morrison. If he had stubble it'd be a portrait of Kip Winger!

Love this painting ... mostly because it is an odd thing to see hanging (3 ft. x 5 ft.) on your wall. But I have to admit, I feared you had an unhealthy fascination with Jim until getting the backstory.

To jjones point: Of course, I do not have it hanging above or at the head of my bed. Boy, that would be odd.

It is a safe distance away, hanging on a wall that runs next to my bed.

Any music fan who has visited Austin at length has probably caught a show at Antone's.

The club has moved locations several times over the years. But in its early years, it was the home club for Stevie Ray ... and in recent years, Gatemouth Brown took the stage every few months. The club's owner, Clifford Antone, is a character. One of the biggest fans of the blues, he can usually be found on the side of the stage or even on stage joining in on bass. He resembles a standing Larry Flynt. In the mid-90s, Clifford did some time for getting caught with an 18-wheeler-trailer full of pot - just a bit more than a baggy's worth.)

Since the beginning and til this day, a larger-than-life-sized painting hangs to the left of the club's stage. It's of Stevie Ray from the back with a guitar, slung down from his shoulder. That painting was done by the same guy that did this one. Thanks to some friends I got Jim and Antone's got Stevie.

For all of you who think this is good art, try sleeping in a room with it hovering over your head. That's what I had to endure when I crashed at Trip's place in Austin. Beautiful creepiness.

Try sleeping stoned in a dorm room with glow-in-the-dark planets, stars, and moons on the ceiling.

I always thought the best photo of SRV was the one with him and brother Jimmie playing together, with Jimmie embracing Stevie from behind, and them both playing guitars in the front. (That sounds confusing, but it was a really poignant shot.)
