An "I Saw" odd pairing

A still-damn-sexy Elizabeth Shue chatting it up with the never-really-ever-sexy contestant from Hell's Kitchen on the patio at Beechwood in Marina Del Rey.

I have an "I Saw" involving Elizabeth Shue: 'Twas at Dartmouth College, many moons ago. Her brother, former TV hunk-of-the-week Andrew, was in AD (home of Chris Miller '63, author of "Animal House"), right next to our always-on-double-secret-probation hockey house. The lovely lass was fresh off her 15 minutes of "Karate Kid" fame and may or may not have wound up canoodling with a not-to-be-named fellow hockey player.

I also saw a rather frumpy-looking Elizabeth several years later on a subway platform in the NYC neighborhood of my sister (also an actress...guess they congregate or something).

Wow! Even those of us in the dark, not-so-cold north have "I Saw" episodes. I feel so chic!

I just have to say, what a great photo selection. There are other things running through my mind too inappropriate to put down here.

Well, for what it's worth, the menu at Beechwood sounds enticing:

"The broad menu starts with lemongrass-fennel steamed mussels, warm beets wih goat cheese and zucchini bread. Popular entrees are roasted chicken breast, white salmon with creme fraiche and short rib pot pie. Uncommon, sharable desserts include peanut-butter truffle tarts with homemade cracker jacks."

I think I've written letters to "Penthouse Forum" that ran a little something like that.

I will hasten to add I consider the concept of "sharable desserts" oxymoronic. Desserts are things you just don't share, like PIN numbers and remotes.

she looked good. thinner than I expected.

She's thin but full Satisfied, thin but full. It's been a beautiful thing to behold over the years, as she grew and matured. First, as she, in her knee-high socks, scampered away from Daniel on the soccer field in KK, beautiful ass in tow. Later, as she did her bust-driven love dance under the waterfalls in the Caribbean in Cocktail. And then, in The Saint and Hollow Man alike, as a beautiful, marvelously brilliant scientist who enjoyed relaxing after work in her bra with a glass of wine.

I don't mean to get carried away, but we're talking about Elizabeth Friggin' Shue. I dig her.

Before I saw the name at the right I thought it was an old picture of Drew Barrymore. But I can't see for shit anyway.

Wow, I just looked at Liz Shue's filmography on IMDB and realized I've not seen many of her films. I've seen "Adventures in Babysitting" and "Mysterious Skin" and that's about it. Well, I saw "The Karate Kid" and "Twenty Bucks," but she didn't register in either. And I didn't recognize her in "Mysterious Skin."

I just can't believe I've not seen "Leaving Las Vegas."

Speaking of growing up, I hear Claire Danes shows it all in "Shopgirl." I don't know as I could watch that--I'd be too embarrassed. I remember her chiefly as a teenager in "My So-Called Life" and it'd be too much like seeing your kid sister nekkid.

Triple J, or any of you, for that matter--have any of you actually spoken to these celebs you run into? Some I could probably think of things to say to if I saw them, while others might not warrant more than a nod and a "How's it going?"

Nope, I can't say that I do.

I actually just saw Matt Stone at the Coffee Bean around the corner from my house. This is the third or so time seeing him, so I am guessing he lives in the neighborhood.

I thought to say something, but again didn't. Would definitely make for a more interesting 'I Saw' entry.

I talked to Billy Gibbons, but I had been drinking saki and vodka tonics and was wearing a red cape, so you could say inhibitions were pretty low that night.

Other than that, no, I am a wuss of a voyeur.
